This recipe is unbelievably simple and absolutely delicious. I have served it as both an appetizer and a main dish for events in the past and people continue to request it.
1 25 oz bag frozen cheese ravioli, thawed at room temperature for 20 minutes
2 c Progresso Italian Bread Crumbs
1 Tbsp dried basil
1 Tbsp dried parsley
1/4 c grated parmesan cheese
1 c buttermilk
Your favorite jar of marinara sauce (I use Prego)
1 quart vegetable oil
Remove ravioli from bag and place on paper towel or wax paper. Combine bread crumbs, parsley, basil and parmesan cheese in a shallow bowl. Next, pour buttermilk in another shallow bowl.
Heat oil to frying stage. Dredge each ravioli in buttermilk and then coat with bread crumbs. Drop by tongs into oil and fry until golden brown. It does not take long. Remove from oil and place on paper towel.
Serve warm with marinara sauce. Pairs well with garden, pasta and fruit salad.
