Music is what feelings sound like.”
I love music. It has been a major tool in my life for expressing emotion. I have very sensitive senses, always have had. My nose is keen, which is why I like to cook. My ears are even keener, and I have been known to put ear plugs in my ears while going about my daily tasks just to filter out the “noise” that is bothersome to me. I did this a lot when my children were younger.
I have perfect pitch. I began taking piano lessons when I was six, and began teaching piano when I was 16. The simple piano is, to me, one of the purest sounds to the ear. Next to the voice. I took voice lessons in both high school and college. I have tried diligently to perfect my skills in both those areas…voice and piano.
Because of my appreciation for the sound of music, I can find enjoyment in nearly all genres. A single note or chord combination can touch the most fragile of heart strings for me. I can listen to anyone from classical Haydn or Schubert to modern Cake, Fall-Out Boys, Muse or Bluegrass’ Union Station. Music makes me happy.
I have composed new age music, and will be soon uploading some of that piano sound to the blog. I have recorded women’s barbershop quartet music with a group Jubilation that I performed with for nearly ten years. I am uploading some of that music as well. I have a goal to record and upload some of my more favorite classical piano pieces.
I wish I had more time in my life to devote to the simple pleasure of music. As it is, musical sounds accompany the tasks I currently perform for most of my day. I reach out to the song in everyone and encourage you to share the types of music that resonate with you.
